Match between 2011 League Winners Of C&DLGA and B&DLGA
At the Executive Council meeting in the Spring of 2011 Cotswold Hills suggested that an annual match should be arranged between the winners of the Cotswold and District Alliance and the Bristol and District Ladies Golf Alliance. This was agreed and a draw for the venue was held at the GLCGA AGM in November. The match between Minchinhampton and Bristol and Clifton was arranged for Easter Monday at Bristol and Clifton.
The match was played in appalling conditions in relentless, torrential rain. However both teams fielded strong sides with handicaps ranging from 6-10 and were well supported by their caddies and representatives from both Alliance Executives. Eve Clements represented C&DLGA as she had arranged the fixture. Corrinne Durber and Captain Caroline Shepherd both enjoyed convincing wins and Victoria Wakeley Jones lost on the last putt but home advantage won the day, 5-2. Bristol and Clifton were presented with the challenge trophy kindly donated by Fay Galley, chairman of B&DLGA. Lady Captain of Bristol and Clifton Jane Watts welcomed everyone to the club. The inaugural game proved a successful match played in good spirit between two highly competitive teams and it is hoped that it becomes an annual fixture with the winning C&DLGA team hosting in 2013.
Minchinhampton Team Frances Lindley, Victoria Wakeley-Jones, Sue Reeve, Caroline Shepherd, Corrinne Durber, Sue Heathcote, Lesley Lee
